Seven maritime bars are closed to all navigation and four are conditioned by the forecast of maritime unrest, according to information available on the page of the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
The maritime bars of Caminha, Vila Praia de Âncora, Esposende, Póvoa do Varzim, Vila do Conde, Douro and Portinho da Ericeira they are closed to all navigation.
Also according to AMN, the maritime inlets of Leixões and Figueira da Foz are closed to vessels of less than 35 meters in length, while that of Viana do Castelo is conditioned to vessels of less than 12 meters in length, and that of Aveiro to vessels of ” overall length” less than 15 meters.
The west coast of Portugal has been, since the 23rd, in a state of alert due to maritime disturbances.
For this reason, the population is advised to avoid walks by the sea or in areas exposed to marine agitation, such as harbor protection docks, cliffs or beaches, to avoid being surprised by a wave.
AMN also suggests reinforcing mooring and “close surveillance” of moored and anchored vessels, as well as avoiding walks and activities by the sea or in areas exposed to marine agitation, such as cliffs and cliff areas often hit by waves.
