Can the Kia EV6 GT beat the Lamborghini Aventador? And in a “special” version?

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, the sportiest of the Italian brand’s models, with its noble 6.5 V12 atmospheric engine, which provides 770 HP and 720 Nm of torque for a weight of just 1690 kg in homologation conditions, that is, With a driver on board and with a full tank, it is a benchmark in terms of starting capacity among gasoline supercars. That is why the Kia EV6 GT challenges it, the sportiest in the range of the South Korean manufacturer and also the most powerful it has ever produced, with two engines that guarantee 585 hp and 740 Nm, powered by a 77.4 kWh battery. (which explains a weight of 2,200 kg), it was not a battle that many could anticipate. But this was exactly the challenge organized by the British from Carwow.

Betting to determine which would be faster to start, the British put the Aventador SVJ and the EV6 GT against each other. On the one hand, one of the lowest and widest two-seater coupes on the market, on the other, a crossover that is taller than a traditional saloon and much taller than its used rival, being substantially more voluminous to offer a more spacious cabin and trunk.

Given the starting signal, it is the Kia that takes the lead and it looks like it could win if we were facing a 0-100 km/h start. This despite having practically the same force (only 20 Nm separate them), but 185 CV less and 510 kg more, an overwhelming difference. But the traditional start test for the English is the ¼ mile, that is, from 0 to 402 meters, which allowed the Lamborghini to show who is the fastest. He did the ¼ mile in 10.9 seconds, just a second shorter than the EV6 GT (11.9 seconds), which is impressive given the price differencewith the Aventador SVJ demanding more.

But the bootstrap test did not end without presenting a surprise, since Mat Watson decided to increase his chances of victory by introducing a “new Kia model”, which was nothing more than an Audi RS e-tron GT, which shares mechanics and platform with the Porsche Taycan. Compared to the Lamborghini, the Audi covered the distance in 11.2 secondsdespite the fact that he also proved to be faster in the first meters of the start.

In conclusion, the Aventador SVJ proved to be the fastest car to accelerate to, and also proved to be the best to stop and go again, as you can see in the video. But given the price difference, being the Kia six times cheaper than the Lamborghini and twice as many as the Audi, the fact that it is only one tenth behind makes it the surprise of this comparison.
