An expert warns about some mobile apps and smart devices

Information security expert Alexander Forasco warns against using some smart device apps, especially those used to manipulate personal photos.

“There are some risks involved in using personal image editing applications based on artificial intelligence, such as the Lensa application. The data transferred through these applications can be misused,” said the expert.

“Personal photos uploaded by users through some apps or social networks can be used in digital identity theft situations. These images can be used to create fake digital accounts, and deep fake techniques can be used to send certain messages to friends and ask them to do you.” Transfer money to a fake account not associated with that person.

“The Lensa app is considered one of the most popular apps that people currently use to edit their personal photos and access the app’s services, although some people may access their image and data and there is no particular risk,” said the expert. The developer is known and refrains from using the application as it has been in the market for a long time, but one should be careful when using such applications. “We are in an era where our personal photos are spread on the internet and social networks and these photos can sometimes be used for illegal purposes, but in general there is no reason to panic about in such things,” he said.
