A vehicle was buried this Tuesday and its two occupants had to be hospitalized after a collapse on Complementary Route 17-CRIL, which only circulates in the Algés-Sacavém direction, a police source reported.

According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the Algés-Belém directorate of the IC17–CRIL is cut off from traffic, Only the two lanes on the left in the Algés-Sacavém direction remain open.

The collapse occurred near the access to Highway 5 (which connects Lisbon with Cascais), the same source said, adding that the buried vehicle contained two people, a driver and a passenger, who were hospitalized.

According to a source from the Lisbon District Relief Operations Command, the two people who were assisted suffered minor injuries.

Access to the Bairro da Boavista was also closed due to a sheet of water, but in the meantime it was reopened.

In a situation report made at 7:00 a.m., the national commander of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), André Fernandes, warned of the strong traffic restrictions on the accesses to Lisbon, with floods and groundwater levels They have already forced the cutting of dozens of roads.

Authorities have asked people to stay home if they can.
