The Montalegre and Boticas schools are operating normally this Friday after the limitations on school transport caused by snow and ice, according to municipal sources.
In the middle of the afternoon of this Tuesday, it began to snow heavily in several municipalities of the Vila Real region that, this Wednesday, woke up with the landscape painted white.
After two days without classes, the Montalegre students returned to school this Friday without restrictions.
The information was provided to the Lusa agency by the mayoress of Montalegre, Fátima Fernandes, who pointed out that the schools and school transportation work normally.
“The roads are passable and the mountains are still painted white.“, highlighted the mayor of the municipality of the North of the district of Vila Real.
In Boticas, on Thursday the school buses did not leave the mountainous area because of the ice, but this Friday, according to the mayor, Fernando Queiroga, the circuits already developed normally and all the students returned to school.
The Fien depression brought this week low temperatures, rains, strong winds and maritime turmoil to mainland Portugal.
The Vila Real district was under yellow warning due to snowfall between Tuesday and Wednesday.
