Suzuki will launch five trams. one of them is jimmy

The Suzuki Jimny, the popular jeep that won over a legion of fans for combining excellent off-road abilities with an affordable price, ended up falling victim to engines that did not meet European requirements, in terms of emissions. Even so, the Japanese brand has not sat idle and, a few days ago, presented a larger variant with five doors that, apparently, will not reach Europe for the same reason. For the Old Continent, the builder’s plans are different: by 2030, Suzuki will launch five exclusively battery-powered models, and it has already been confirmed that one of them will be the Jimny.

Do you want this Suzuki electric SUV? wait for 2025

Nothing more is known about the electric successor to the little jeep, with the brand keeping the media completely in the dark as the only additional information came in the form of a slide featuring five models in black, leaving only the silhouette and light signature. revealed from each of these vehicles. The first of this quintet will appear next year or… maybe not. This is because the introduction of the new streetcar is scheduled for the fiscal year (FY, from fiscal year) of 2024, which does not correspond to our calendar year, between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. Interestingly, the production version of the eVX, the compact electric SUV that Suzuki showed as a concept at the Indian Motor Show, is expected to go from prototype to production model in 2025…

Coincidences aside, Suzuki’s strategy for Europe is based on launching five purely electric vehicles by 2030, the year in which the brand estimates that 80% of its sales in the Old Continent will be battery-powered models, with the remaining 20% corresponding to non-rechargeable hybrids. (HEV). A completely different scenario for Japan and India, markets in which the brand will launch six new BEVs, although it does not expect to reach a target close to the European one, with a 20 and 15% share of trams respectively in these markets.

To sustain its growth ambitions, Suzuki announced that it will invest around 31,000 million euros until 2030. But the amount allocated to electrification is not even half: 14,000 million They are allocated to the design and development of battery models and, of this cut, 3,500 million euros are reserved for the development and production of accumulators.

The strategy now presented assumes that Cooperation with Toyota will be strengthened, particularly in the field of autonomous vehicles and battery electric vehicles.
