Emirates Airlines conducts first test flight on sustainable fuel

Al-Khaleej newspaper announced that Emirates Airlines has successfully completed the first test flight of an aircraft using sustainable fuel.

On Monday, January 30, Emirates Airlines was able to conduct a test flight on one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, powered by two GE90 engines, using 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in one of the two engines.

According to the newspaper, the plane in question took off from Dubai International Airport, led by Captain Khaled Nasser Akram and Captain Governor Fajidar, on Monday (January 30) and flew over the coast of Dubai for over an hour.

The newspaper noted that Emirates Airlines’ action in collaboration with industry leaders contributes to advancing the commercial aviation industry’s efforts towards sustainable operations and reducing dependence on conventional fuels, and the That flight helps start a collective industry effort to secure the future. This contributes to the development of aviation with 100% sustainable fuel and also contributes to achieving the UAE’s sustainability goals.

The newspaper also said, “Emirates Airlines’ test flight is the first of its kind to be operated with 100% sustainable fuel in the Middle East and North Africa, and the flight supports efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions as the industry seeks to expand. ” using such fuel to help improve the operating platform for future sustainable fuel offerings.
