IPMA places two districts under yellow alert this Saturday due to snowfall

The districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda are under a yellow warning this Saturday due to the forecast of snowfall above 1,600 meters, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the same source, the snowfall warning, which is in effect from 5:46 a.m., will remain in place until 12:00 p.m. this Saturday in those two districts.

The warning is for snowfall above 1,600 meters and the possibility of accumulation of 5 to 10 centimeters above 1,800 meters, with the IPMA warning of possible disturbances in circulation, with roads or roads blocked, and possible formation of ice.

The yellow notice is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

The IPMA forecasts for this Saturday on the continent showers, which will decrease in frequency from the afternoon, and moderate to light wind.

The forecast also points to a strong night cooling and a slight decrease in the minimum temperature and strong marine agitation on the western coast, ending at 06:00 this Saturday the yellow warning in 10 districts due to the state of the sea.
