The President of the Republic highlighted this Wednesday the need to raise awareness about the world water crisis and the worsening of structural situations of scarcity, in a note on the occasion of World Water Day.
In the note, released this Wednesday on the website of the Presidency of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also highlights the importance of accelerating the achievement of the Goals of the Water Decade, “through concrete actions”, with a view to its management. and efficient use, “reducing waste and reinforcing its circularity and the use of alternative sources”.
On the day that marks World Water Day and the start of the United Nations Conference on Water, the President of the Republic also summons legislators and the executive, local authorities, as well as all citizens, economic agents, scientific community, civil society organizations and public administration to associated to the commitment to contribute more quickly to the achievement of the Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Portugal.
