Five districts under yellow alert since Wednesday due to wind

Five mainland districts will be under yellow alert on Wednesday due to the forecast of strong winds, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The districts of Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria and Beja will be below yellow wind warning strong with gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour between 12:00 on Wednesday and 12:00 on Friday.

To these five districts join, from 12:00 on Thursday to 00:00 on Fridaythe districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, Coimbra and Bragaalso because of the strong wind.

The IPMA placed this Tuesday the The island of Madeira under yellow notice until 6:00 p.m. this Tuesday by the strong wind, which can reach 100 kilometers per hour in mountainous areas.

The yellow notice is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
