The strong wind felt at the Madeira airport has caused, since 00:00 this Tuesday, the cancellation of 42 arrivals and 37 departures and caused the diversion of four flights, according to ANA – Aeroportos.
According to the information available on the website of the Portuguese airport manager, consulted by the Lusa agency at around 7:00 p.m., 42 arrivals and 37 departures were canceled and four flights diverged.
Throughout the day, fair nine planes managed to land at Madeira airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, seven of which until 12:10.
“The weather forecasts point to a continuation of the restrictions on departures and arrivals. Confirm the status of your flight before going to the airport”, alerts ANA, on its official website.
This Tuesday, the Funchal Port Authority extended the strong wind warning for the Madeira coast, issued on Monday, until 06:00 on Wednesday. The warnings are based on the forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) on the general meteorological situation (wind and sea) on the coast.
The notice states that the wind will continue to blow from the northeast “cool to very cool, sometimes strong”.
