April sales in Europe. VW, Sandero and Model Y led

The JATO data reveals that Europeans bought, in the 30 days of April, a total of 960,191 vehicleswhich represents a 16% increase compared to the same period. This growth was due to the increase in demand for electric models, the segment that increased the most in the 4th month of 2023.

The first surprise of April came from the hand of Volkswagena brand that has been far from the top positions in the classification of sales since the chip crisis, but which last month sold 105,669 units, almost double the second best selling brand. And here comes the second surprise of the month, since the deputy director of classification i went to audi (58,841), which not only surpassed the rest of the manufacturers, but also surpassed its direct competition, the neighbors of BMW (52,673) and Mercedes (51,935). Toyota was the third best-selling brand (54,224), ahead of Renault (53,013), which in turn surpassed its rival Peugeot (51,869).

If among the manufacturers the surprise was VW, among the models was the Dacia Sandero that impressed. Despite consistently leading sales to individuals, Dacia is out of the vast majority of deals involving companies, fleet owners, or rent a car, which makes it difficult for him to compete for the lead. But not in April, the month in which Sandero put 18,659 vehicles on the market, surpassing the Volkswagen T-Roc (16,746), the Opel Corsa (16,578), the Renault Clio (15,792) and the Peugeot 208 (15,026).

Among the electric vehicles there were no surprises in the lead, since the Tesla Model Y remained the best sellerwith 10,553 units, at a time when the Model 3 seems to be far from the preferences of consumers since they began to talk about the remodeling. The next places on the podium went to Volkswagen, with the ID.4 (6542) and ID.3 (5913) occupying the second and third positions, respectively. The Skoda Enyaq was the fourth best-selling battery model (4,393), ahead of the Dacia Spring (4,191), which finished in the top 5.

Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) continue to lose favor, especially since Germany announced the end of incentives. still so, the Ford Kuga continues to be among the most popular, with 4,055 units, followed by the Volvo XC60 (3,604) and the Link & Co 01 (2,740). The Kia Sportage (2665) and the Hyundai Tucson (2068) complete the classification of the top five best-selling PHEVs. The Germans, traditional leaders, were left out of the top 5.
