Kilauea, Hawaii’s youngest and most active volcano, erupted Wednesday, the US Geological Survey said. It is the second time the phenomenon has occurred this year.
The eruption was detected by the US Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory at 4:44 am (local time). According to The New York Times, an hour later, the lava began to create a black and orange net around Halemaʻumaʻuthe main crater of the volcano.
“It spread across the crater floor in a totally incandescent”said Ken Hon, the scientist in charge of the observatory, quoted in the same newspaper, adding:” The sources and everything else is incredible.

In it video shared on social media, it is still possible to see the lava bubbling, as well as “the various active vent sources and lava flooding the ground.”
The observatory said the volcano’s activity is limited to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. there are no major threats to human life. The only threat will be the fumes coming out of the volcano.
Active since 2020, after being inactive for two years, this is the fourth time the Kilauea volcano has erupted in three years. The first lasted from December 2020 to May 2021, the second from September 2021 to December 2022, and the most recent one started in January of this year and lasted 61 days.
