14 districts under yellow alert for rain and strong wind

Fourteen districts of the peninsula are under yellow alert this Thursday due to the forecast of occasionally intense showers and that can occasionally be hail and be accompanied by strong gusts of wind and electrical storms, according to the IPMA.

The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Leiria, Porto, Viana do Castelos and Viseu will have a yellow notice between 12 noon and 9 p.m. this Thursday, advances the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

In the districts of Setúbal and Lisbon, the yellow notice ends at 9 in the morning this Thursday.

The IPMA forecasts showers, sometimes intense, with hail and electrical storms, with the wind from the south quadrant blowing sometimes strongly on the coast and in the mountains.

The forecasts point to a slight decrease in the maximum temperature in the Center and South and periods of very cloudy skies.

For the North and Central regions, periods of rain or showers are expected, sometimes intense, with hail and accompanied by electrical storms.

The wind will blow light to moderate (up to 30 kilometers/hour – km/h) from the south quadrant, blowing moderately to strong (25 to 40 km/h) on the west coast, with gusts of up to 70 km/h, decreasing from intensity in the South region from the end of the afternoon.

In the mountains, the wind will be moderate to strong (30 to 45 km/h) from the south quadrant, with gusts of up to 75 km/h.
