Alpine blows out 100 Le Mans candles with this A110 R

Alpine wants to remember its past in competition and, incidentally, takes advantage of its only model to launch another special edition. The most recent is the limited series A110 R Le Mans, of which only 100 units will be manufactured, a figure that is justified because this year the Circuit de la Sarthe will host the 100th edition of the legendary endurance test, which starts at 3:00 p.m.: 00 next Saturday and ends 24 hours later.

The A110 R Le Mans does not undergo any mechanical changes compared to the A110 R that serves as the basis for this special edition, continuing to mount the four-cylinder inline with 300 HP of power and 340 Nm of torque that drives the Dieppe coupé from 0 to 100 km. /h in just 3.9 seconds, and then continues to respond to throttle up to a top speed of 285 km/h. Different, yes, is the weight, with this version of the rear-wheel drive coupe accusing only 1082 kg when placed on the scale -75 kg less than the conventional A110 R-.

For added stability on the track, the two-seater French sports car mounts a Road & Track “lever”, which lowers and stiffens the A110 by 5%. The suspension also benefits from a specific adjustment that, according to the brand, “improves performance on the long straight of the ‘Hunaudières’ and in the fast corners of the 24 Hours circuit.”

Outwardly, this Alpine cannot be confused with the rest. This is because the French stylists opted for a decoration in blue and white, the colors of Le Mans. Two blue stripes are applied to the front bonnet, roof and rear wing, in the style of a racing car, to which are added details such as the shark fin (vertical) of the rear window, in carbon, alluding to the A480. who competed at Le Mans.

Inside, the Sabelt Track bucket seats display the official 24 Hours of Le Mans signature on the headrests, a note also found on the front fenders and sills. It is clear that, being a limited series, this special edition does not lack the plate with the copy number. More discreet is the French tracing design that is laser etched into the sun visor.

This Thursday, Alpine opens orders for the A110 R Le Mans, which will sell for €140,000 including VAT. The “if not”, for fans of the brand and Le Mans enthusiasts, is that this limited series is in France.
