Boss shows in detail the Gemera with 2300 CV

There are models with plug-in hybrid mechanics (PHEV) and then there is the Koenigsegg Gemera V8. If others focus on consumption and emissions, the Gemera V8 insists on assuming itself as a Hypercar with 2300 CV that leaves infernal machines, like the Bugatti Chiron, 800 CV away. But, to get to know this Swedish “bomb” better, nothing better than enjoying a guided tour by the head of the brand, Christian von Koenigsegg.

The Gemera is the Koenigsegg’s first family modelbecause, in addition to space for four adults, it has a trunk that can fit one person, as the video shows. The new model debuted by uniting three electric motors to a small combustion enginewhich Koenigsegg calls TFG, friendly little giant, for having only three cylinders and 1,988.25 cc, despite having 598 CV at 7,500 rpm, being able to support a speed of up to 8,500 revolutions. Interestingly, this twin-turbocharged combustion engine is installed at the front and transmits power to the front wheels.

Originally, the Gemera added three electric units to this combustion engine. One, with 406 hp and 500 Nm, was coupled to the gasoline combustion engine and the remaining two were associated with each of the rear wheels, each with 507 hp and 1,000 Nm. With a total power of 1,724 CV, this was the first version of the Gemera, followed by a second version, in which Koenigsegg replaced the three electric motors that totaled just over 1,100 CV, with a single one, called Dark Matter, with 811 CV and 1250Nm, This being the version that went into series production, which will only generate 300 copies with a total power of 1419 CV per unit.

For the most demanding customers and, above all, for those who considered a hypercar unworthy of resorting to a three-cylinder twin-turbo engine, Koenigsegg has designed a new version of its PHEV family model, called the Gemera V8 for having replaced the three . -Cylinder with a 5.0 V8 biturbo. It maintains the 15 kWh capacity rechargeable battery (which allows you to travel 50 km in electric mode) and Dark Matter, but the power of the V8 allows a total of 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm of torque to be reached. This is the Gemera now showing up at Monterey Car Week in California, with a nearly 900-hp increase over the more affordable Gemera. This means that, to take home the V8 version, it will be necessary to spend another 400 thousand euros.
