The new EV5 will be the third electric vehicle in Kia’s rangeafter the EV6 crossover and the top-of-the-range SUV EV9, among the battery models offered by the South Korean brand, with specific platforms that this technology, therefore, Optimize your efficiency potential. With obvious similarities to the EV9, the EV5 is presented as a voluminous SUV, not in line with some competitors who opt for more stylized SUVs that are closer to crossovers, so as not to be so penalized in terms of consumption and autonomy.
Designed in the E-GMP Platformthe EV5 will be manufactured in South Korea and China, with expectations three versions which vary the battery capacity, power and type of transmission. The standard EV5 uses a 64 kWh capacity battery and a single 160 kW (218 HP) motor that travels 530 km. but according to the Chinese method, the CLCT, as permissive as the old European NEDC and far from the current WLTP.

The most coveted version of the EV5 will have the largest battery, the Long Range, whose capacity amounts to 88 kWh, maintaining the engine with 218 HP, which will allow it to travel 720 km between visits to the charging station. When approved in WLTP, the values should be between 50 and 80 km. For those who want an electric SUV capable of going further in snow, mud or more difficult conditions, Kia offers the EV5 in Long Range version, but with two motors and all-wheel drive (AWD). With 88 kWh and 306 HP, as it combines the front motor (218 HP) with a 70 kW (95 HP) rear motor, this EV5 announces 650 km of autonomy in CLTC.

In addition to the EV5, which will arrive in Europe in 2025 and which Kia also promised to offer in a more powerful and sporty GT version, the South Korean manufacturer lifted the veil on two other electric vehicles.
