And as you may have noticed in your daily life, being angry can range from mild frustration at an event to outright fury. “Anger has benefits for achieving goals,” announce, in the title, the authors of an article published in the scientific journal Journal of Personality and Social Psychology: Attitudes and Social Cognition, of the American Psychological Association. But before you start venting hate in all directions or on any task, it is best to know that being angry will not work in all activities and will sometimes even be counterproductive, as popular wisdom often states. In fact, the objective was understand whether anger helped resolve challenges and achieve goals in non-social situations – In other words, it’s best not to try to throw a tantrum with your co-workers or at a gathering of friends.

“The view that positive emotions are optimal for mental health and well-being has been used extensively in psychological and lay considerations of emotions. “People also prefer to use positive emotions as tools rather than negative ones and tend to consider them undesirable and inappropriate,” the authors state. “However, Evidence suggests that a combination of positive emotions and positive emotions promotes well-being. and that using negative emotions as a tool is particularly effective.”
