Sage Lenier: “Stop bothering normal people”

Transition to a circular economy, decarbonization, environmental justice and reducing dependence on single-use plastics. For Sage Lenier, an American climate activist, these are not unknown issues. At age 19 she began teaching a course at the university she attended, the University of Berkeley, in California, to show other students some solutions they could adopt for a more sustainable future.

Now, five years later, the course has also become a non-profit organization, the Sustainable and fair future, founded to make it possible to transmit the teachings to a “global audience.” Currently 24 years old and after being distinguished by Time magazine as one of the 10 “next generation leaders,” Sage Lenier left the classroom to give a lesson to the participants of the Web Summit.
