IPMA increases the districts under yellow alert due to rain to six

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) this Monday raised the districts from three to six under yellow alert due to the forecast of persistent and sometimes intense rainfall.

In addition to Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga, which were already in yellow, the IPMA issued a new statement with rainfall warnings for the districts of Viseu, Vila Real and Aveiro between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. this Monday.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation occurs for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

The IPMA forecasts for this Monday on the continent generally very cloudy skies, periods of rain in the North and Center, which can sometimes be strong, especially in Miño and Duero Litoral, starting in the afternoon, light to moderate wind, being strong in the highlands, and a small increase in the minimum temperature.

Minimum temperatures will range between 11 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 17 (in Faro) and maximum temperatures between 19 degrees (in Viana do Castelo) and 29 (in Beja).
