VW expands the ID.7 range with power of up to 340 hp and 709 km of autonomy

Volkswagen has started pre-sales of the ID.7 GTX, the sportiest variant of the range which mounts one motor per axle, which guarantees More power and all-wheel drive.available in the two already known body styles, the fastback saloon and the Tourer estate. At the same time, the ID.7 is now offered in a new version, the Pro S, with rear-wheel drive only, but with the same higher-capacity battery as the GTX, which increases the distance that can be traveled between charges.

In the ID.7 GTX, Volkswagen kept the 286 hp rear electric motor and added a 109 hp front motor – an asynchronous type that only works when front-wheel drive and a little more power are needed -, ensuring a total of 340 hp between the two. The increase in power compared to the normal versions, with 286 hp, allowed reduce the time required to go from 0 to 100 km/h from 6.5 to just 5.4 seconds (The Tourer version needs 5.5 seconds).

In addition to increased power, the ID.7 GTX has a Bigger and better battery, increasing the useful capacity from 77 to 86 kWh, an increase of 11.7% that is reflected in the autonomy, of up to 595 km. And in addition to increasing the distance between charges, the new battery accepts faster chargesas it allows powers of 200 kW, instead of the 175 kW of the 77 kWh version, which makes VW announce that it goes from 10% to 80% of the charge (which is equivalent to increasing the stored energy from 9 to 69 kWh) in just 26 minutes.

In addition to the GTX, VW is also introducing the Pro S version of the ID.7, in both saloon and tourer formats. This new option combines a single 286 hp engine installed on the rear axle – already coming from the German manufacturer’s new family of drive units (synchronous type) – with the new battery with a useful capacity of 86 kWh (91 kWh gross). The German manufacturer does not reveal the additional weight of the battery, which has the already announced 11.7% more useful capacity, as well as an additional 11% in total capacity, which defines the volume and weight of the accumulator.

With the new battery, with increased capacity, the ID.7 Pro S will be able to compete with the best electric vehicles on the market. In the larger and heavier Tourer version (about 21 kg), it announces a respectable range of 690 km, despite claiming the same Cx (0.23) and S.Cx (0.64). But it is the ID.7 Pro S in saloon version that can exceed the magic threshold of 700 kilometres. between visits to a charging station, while traveling 709 km with full charge Of battery.

The new ID.7 GTX and ID.7 Pro S, both in saloon and tourer versions, should arrive in Portugal in Octoberand prices will be announced closer to the delivery date of the first units.
