CNN Senior Journalist Oliver Darcy has been criticized on social media for promoting the spread of misinformation about US Secret Service (USSS) safety measures during former President Donald Trump’s speech at the National Rifle Association (NRA) meeting on Friday last year.
The stories of Trump’s NRA speech should highlight that attendees are not* allowed to bring their own weapons into the venue.

As Darcy tried to rally the establishment media on the left to accept this story, many on the right rushed to call a CNN staff member, stressing that it was common practice for the USSS to ban guns at events attended by the former president. Republican strategist Arthur Schwartz wanted Darcy called it “fraud” and stressed that the decision was “a call from the Secret Service and that’s the rule almost everywhere he goes (like other ex-presidents)”.

Conservative commentator and author Dan Bongino stated The secret service generally forbids bystanders to carry guns in places where the former president is present.

Former Navy SEAL Joe Lambert slapped Darcy as a “damn idiot” in a tweet.
“The former president is in this room, the secret service is guarding the area, they have weapons and are in charge of security,” he added. “You’re safe.”

Amy Kremer, Head of Women for America First, argued He added that Darcy knew the USSS was responsible for the proposal and that Darcy was “an activist and trying to gain political points.”
The reporter was an activist, trying to score political points even though he knew very well that the US Secret Service was responsible for security with the former president.

Before speaking at Friday’s NRA meeting, Trump honored the victims of the shooting at the school in Uvalde, Texas, with a minute of silence, according to Breitbart News.
“The beast that committed this crime was pure evil, pure cruelty, pure hatred, pure hatred, and those whom he killed will burn in hellfire forever, even though they are now with God in heaven,” he says.
Trump has also criticized the left for wasting no time in calling for gun control on the same day that nineteen children and two teachers were killed at Robb’s elementary school.
“Unfortunately, before the sun went down on that terrible day of tragedy, we witnessed the now familiar parade of cynical politicians trying to use the tears of crying families to increase their power and steal us from our constitutional rights,” Trump said.
