Republicans condemn Soros-funded buyout of Latin American radio stations: FCC should review ‘open, partisan’ deal

A group of prominent Republican lawmakers, including Senators Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Tom Cotton (RF.), and Rick Scott (RF.), are urging them to review the latest deal to buy 18 Spanish radio stations from the FCC. A group affiliated with Democrats said the deal was an “open, partisan” attempt to silence dissent.

In a letter sent to the FCC on Wednesday, they said the takeover, funded in part by an organization linked to left-wing billionaire George Soros, was an attempt to establish political control over Hispanic communities, which had revolted in record numbers against the Democrats.

Far from quality.he offered sales the last in a series of elite moves progressives He is desperately trying to regain the support of Hispanic voters,” he said.

The ultimate goal is to “fill the waves of propaganda in hopes of deceiving the audience, thereby silencing influential conservative voices that challenge their progressive propaganda.”

Other signatories included Representatives Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Carlos Jiménez (R-FL) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL).

The purchase of 18 radio stations, including Radio Mambí in Miami, was overseen by a start-up organization called Latino Media Network (LMN), led by former Obama administration officials. The stations are owned by the media conglomerate Univisión-Televisa.

In their letters, GOP lawmakers voiced their concerns about the LMN, including its lack of radio experience, as well as “potential external funding implications.” FCC rules prohibit foreigners from owning local radio stations.

“Anyway taking that size and speed, especially critical question remains The LMN and the lack of work experience should be scrutinized extremely carefully,” he said.

LMN reportedly raised $80 million to purchase 18 stations. Investors include Democratic actress Eva Longoria, who attends the 2020 Democratic National Convention, and Soros Fund Management-linked investment fund Lakestar Finance.

Spaniards are turning their backs on Democrats in unprecedented numbers as skyrocketing inflation and rising gas prices hit families’ wallets hard. A recent poll showed that President Joe Biden’s Hispanic approval rate dropped to 24 percent, with nearly 6 out of 10 people disagreeing with his study.
