Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzadeh indicated that “the talks with the European coordinator in Tehran are going well, and we are waiting for Washington’s response to some proposals,” stressing that “we can return to Vienna if Washington responds to Iranian proposals.” He believed that “if Washington makes its political decision, it can be said that this is a good step to move the negotiations forward.”

Khatibzadeh announced that “Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahyan will visit the UAE today.”

And EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell announced earlier the “resumption of negotiations on the revival of the nuclear agreement”, which has been in a deadlock for several years. And he added: “I think that the visit of the European coordinator to Tehran resolved the situation.”

Borrell told a G7 foreign ministers meeting in Wangles in northern Germany that “Iran’s reaction was quite positive after coordinator Enrique Mora relayed the message that this cannot go on” and continued: one cannot decide overnight, let’s say , negotiations stopped, and then the situation was resolved, which means that there is a possibility of reaching a final agreement.

European Union coordinator Enrique Mora visited Tehran last week and met with Iran’s chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani in what was described as “the last chance to salvage the 2015 agreement.”
