Iran, Norway and Italy have confirmed economic support to the Syrian people

Ali Asghar Khaji, Iran’s Senior Deputy for Foreign Affairs Special Political Affairs, and the ambassadors of Norway and Italy on the Syrian issue stressed that the economic problems of the Syrians must now be ended.

It came in talks between these officials, with the participation of government, opposition and civil society delegations, on the sideline of the eighth session of the Syrian Constitutional Committee’s mini-committee in Geneva. International Ambassador to Syria Geir Pedersen, whose work was completed today.

During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran and the envoys of Norway and Italy reviewed the latest developments regarding the development of the political process and the performance of the Constitutional Committee, as well as humanitarian issues and initiatives in Syria.

The reference was made to the recent initiative of the Syrian government, represented in the presidential amnesty decree, and the need to expand such initiatives to all sectors to contribute to alleviating the suffering of Syrians.

The Constitutional Commission continues its work today by discussing four principles: unilateral measures on coercion, protection and strengthening of state institutions, the supremacy of the constitution, the status of international treaties, and transitional justice.
