The group sent “twenty large balloons filled with 20,000 face masks, 15,000 Tylenol tablets and 30,000 vitamin C tablets between 10 and 11 am.”
These details were stated in a statement made by the organization “Fighting for the Liberation of North Korea” in Bucheon, north of Seoul, on Sunday, while it was reported that the wolves that landed in the northern territory with their cargo were not confirmed.
In response, South Korea’s Ministry of Unification, which is responsible for inter-Korean relations, “reiterated its call to refrain from such action, describing it as a violation of the Korea-Development Relations Act.”
“We fully understand the group’s efforts to help North Koreans, but we have urged them on several occasions to stop (starting) this as the government seeks inter-Korean health care cooperation. Considering what will provide real assistance to North Korea, ”a South Korean Unification Ministry official told reporters.
The agency said violators could face up to three years in prison or a maximum fine of 30 million won (equivalent to $ 23,700).
North Korea’s angry reaction to what the protesters did by sending “balloons, mostly with anti-Pyongyang propaganda leaflets and portable radios” was noteworthy.
