The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that “the settler attack on the Church of the Holy Spirit in the occupied city of Jerusalem is organized terrorism and is part of Israel’s ongoing violations of Islamic and Christian shrines in the city to further its Judaization plans. “

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “this attack and other egregious violations of international law are nothing less than attempts to change the historical and legal reality in Jerusalem, and we call on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to promptly activate the international system for protecting the Palestinian people as a whole and Jerusalem in in particular, as well as the need to include settler gangs on terrorist lists.

For its part, the Supreme Presidential Committee on Church Affairs in Palestine explained that the settlers’ repeated attacks on the church and their threats to kill its guards are nothing more than an extension of the Israeli approach to restrict churches in occupied Jerusalem and confiscate their property.

The Committee pointed out that Israel’s violations of Islamic and Christian places of worship are systematic and organized, as is clear from the daily incursions of settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque to further Israel’s ambitions to Judaize Jerusalem and liberate it from the Palestinians.

The Committee called on the international community to break its silence and fulfill its obligations to protect the right of the Palestinian people to freely practice their religious practices and to stop all violations of holy places.
