EU nuclear weapons? A “zombie” that has been resurrected


In November 1957, the defense ministers of Germany, France, and Italy secretly signed a protocol proposing cooperate in the development and exchange of “military applications of atomic energy”. The expression has a more direct translation: the three countries wanted to build a nuclear weapon in partnership. And they committed to doing so just eight months after the three countries, together with Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, created the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) and the European Economic Community (EEC). Who knew nothing, despite the fact that everyone had promised to invest in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy; and prevent the application of this technology for military purposes.
