More than 30 flights canceled to and from Lisbon airport this Monday. Most are from TAP

More than 30 flights to and from the Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon have already been canceled this Monday, most of them by TAP, after a weekend that has already been characterized by several limitations.

According to a survey carried out by The Observer based on information from the ANA Aeroportos website, which manages airports in Portugal, at 11 in the morning they had been canceled 17 flights who were due to arrive in Lisbon this Monday and other fifteen they were supposed to leave the airport during the day.

Flights of different companies are involved from PLAY – who concentrates most cancellations (seven arriving in Lisbon and another seven leaving the capital)—, EasyJet, Beijing Capital, British Airways, SAS Scandinavian, Privilege Style, Skyup, Transavia or Privilege Style, among others. The Observer questioned TAP about the reasons for the cancellations and is awaiting a response. The airline has the largest number of slots at Lisbon airport.

Already this weekend several flights were canceled at the capital’s airport. According to ANA, 65 flights (40 arrivals and 25 departures) were canceled on Saturday.due to a set of restrictions at various European airports”. Many of the flights canceled in Portugal were TAP.

On Sunday, the airline justified it with an incident with a private jet that caused the closure of the airport runway on Friday, which affected many flights. “The Lisbon airport runway was not operational for a few hours on Friday afternoon, July 1, due to an incident with a private jet. As a result, many TAP flights were affected and diverted to other airports,” a TAP source told Lusa at the time.

As The Observer has already explained, this summer will be marked by various limitations at European airports, from strikes, difficulties in hiring workers or high demand. The problems have already led European airports to reduce their planned supply. And, for example, Easyjet canceled thousands of flights preventively.

For Lusa, ANA has already underlined that “Lisbon airport has implemented measures to support airlines, namely the installation of additional mobile counters in the transfer area for flight rescheduling.” It also ensured that passenger support teams and water distribution were reinforced.
