Shinzo Abe, the former prime minister of Japan, was shot dead by a gunman in the city of Nara on Friday morning.

Abe, 67, was giving a speech outside the train station when shots were fired, Japan Broadcasting Corporation said.
The former Japanese prime minister was taken to the hospital unconscious after suffering a heart attack, while Japanese media reported that he did not show any vital signs after the attack.
