Covid-19: Cape Verde more than halves active cases in a week

You active cases of Covid-19 in Cape Verde fell again for the second week in a rownow by more than half, going from 926 to 452in a period in which the country registered three more deaths caused by the disease.

According to the epidemiological bulletin released this Monday by the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours, of a total of 401 samples analyzed, 46 new cases of infection by SARS-CoV-2 were detected, with a positivity rate of 11.5 %. and 129 more people were reported as recovered.

Since the start of the pandemic, the archipelago has registered a total of 61,669 accumulated positive casesof which 60,753 recovered and there it is 452 active cases.

In the last week, the country registered three more deaths from complications associated with Covid-19, bringing the total to 409 dead since the start of the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are currently 11 people hospitalized in Cape Verde hospitals due to Covid-19, of which one (9%) is in serious condition, with a hospitalization rate of 12.1%.

In the analysis of the last 14 days, from June 27 to July 10, the Cape Verdean authorities reported that a total of 8,955 samples (average of 640 days) were analyzed and 2,066 new cases were identified.

At that time, the national cumulative incidence rate was 363 cases per 100,000 population, the transmissibility rate (Rt) was 0.58, and the positivity rate was, on average, 23.1%.
