French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna confirmed, during a meeting with her Palestinian counterpart Riad al-Maliki, who is currently visiting France, Paris’s “unwavering political and financial support for Palestine and its commitment in the European Union and the Security Council, pushing towards a political solution or providing a horizon to return to negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis in accordance with approved international recommendations.

For his part, Al-Maliki briefed his French counterpart on the evolving situation in Palestine, “and on the ongoing daily violations committed by the Israeli entity that affect people, land and stones, as well as on the daily measures taken in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, specially occupied Jerusalem, are exposed to prevent the realization of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Notably, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will visit France on the 19th of this month, and he is expected to hold a high-level meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron as part of the visit.
