The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bogdan Oresek, said that the conference of donor countries in Bucharest, jointly organized by Germany and France, managed to collect about 615 million euros in additional assistance to Moldova; In light of the ongoing war in neighboring Ukraine.

He stressed that “the Republic of Moldova cannot be left alone and will not be alone in its efforts to achieve the reforms it needs.”

The conference comes right after a similar meeting last April, during which more than 30 countries and international groups agreed to provide direct financial support of 659.5 million euros.

France is expected to host another conference later this year to continue supporting the country of 2.6 million, which is heavily dependent on Russian energy supplies.

It is noteworthy that in June last year, EU leaders agreed to grant Ukraine and Moldova the status of a candidate for joining the union in order to demonstrate support for the two countries represented by Russia.
