We are grateful that no one was injured in this incident,” said House Speaker Brandon Scott. “It could have been a serious tragedy. We thank the men and women of the fire department for their prompt response.”
The unusual happened, according to CBS, before 10 am local time on the 0 and 2 floors of East Pratt Street. According to the Baltimore City Fire Department, no victims were found, having also ensured that the garage will be inspected to ensure proper safety conditions.
At the moment of collapse, there were 50 cars parked in the garage, all of whom were uninjured. Deputy Fire Chief Dante Stewart assured reporters that garages are inspected annually, though he doesn’t know when the most recent inspection was done.
