Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Silakovic said his ministry had sent a note of protest to Croatia over the failure of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to make a private visit to the Jasenovic POW camp. He noted that he was shocked by the anti-civilization and anti-European decision of Zagreb. Silakovic read to journalists a note from the Croatian Foreign Ministry dated July 15, which stated that he had not been notified of Vučić’s visit and that a particularly responsible official should not be allowed to visit.

He explained that the Serbian authorities consider the decision of Zagreb scandalous and frightening, having no analogues after the Second World War. He stressed that “the government of Serbia will decide on response measures in accordance with international law.” Earlier, Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabic said that the Croatian authorities prevented the private visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to the Jasenovic concentration camp complex.
