Russian President Vladimir Putin left several criticisms of the role of western leaders. For the head of state, the sanctions applied against Russia after the invasion of Ukraine are the result of “opportunistic political interests”.
In a speech during a meeting with officials of the steel industry quoted by the RIA agency, the Russian president considers that the Western sanctioning policy “does not reflect the needs of world politics” and has caused an increase in inflation. “The same thing is happening in our country,” he lamented.
“The deterioration of the welfare and quality of life of ordinary citizens, especially in Europe, does not interest politicians”shot Vladimir Putin.
In addition, the Russian president said that by adopting sanctions against Russia, Western countries “threw overboard” the principles established by the World Trade Organization.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the West adopted various economic sanctions against Russia. The European Union recently approved a seventh package of sanctions.
