The Turkish Foreign Ministry indicated that “our solidarity with the Syrian people will continue”, explaining that “Turkey will continue to make a significant contribution to efforts to find a lasting solution to the conflict in Syria in accordance with the aspirations of the Syrian people.” Full support for the Syrian opposition and the negotiating body, but the political track is currently not moving forward due to regime delays, as pointed out by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that “since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, Turkey has been the country that has made the greatest efforts to find a solution to the crisis in this country in accordance with the legitimate expectations of the people.”

Cavusoglu said yesterday that he “had a short conversation with Syrian regime foreign minister Faisal Mikdad on the sidelines of the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, which took place last October in the Serbian capital of Belgrade”, and explained that “in this meeting, I confirmed that the only way to end the meeting is to resolve the issue. “The crisis is a political solution, eliminating the terrorists without any discrimination between them and reaching an agreement between the regime and the opposition, and Turkey supports these steps.”

He stressed that “we must somehow reach an agreement between the opposition and the regime in Syria, otherwise there will be no lasting peace.”

Referring to the possibility of Turkey launching a new military operation in Syrian territory, Cavusoglu said: “Our goal in military operations in Syria is to fight terrorist organizations that threaten our lands and seek to realize their separatist plans inside this country.”
