Portugal has already granted 51,232 temporary protections to Ukrainian citizens and foreigners residing in that country and fleeing the war, with Lisbon having the highest number (10,912), the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) reported on Monday.
Of the 51,232 temporary protections granted since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 30,575 are women and 20,657 are mensays the SEF, adding that minors represent 13,593 of the total.
After Lisbon, the municipalities with the highest number of temporary protections are Cascais (3,075), Porto (2,493), Sintra (1,763) and Albufeira (1,270).
Regarding residence authorization certificates under a temporary protection regime, which contain the user’s health, social security and tax identification numbers assigned by the respective entities, the SEF reveals that it has already issued 42,343.
As for minors —indicates the SEF—, the temporary guardianships granted, as established by Portuguese legislation, are of two categories: accompanied and unaccompanied.
During the assignment process, citizens can check the numbers that are being assigned in the meantime in their reserved area of the digital platform https://sefforukraine.sef.pt.
The request for temporary protection to Portugal can be made through the online platform created by the SEF, available in three languages, without the need for adults to use the windows of this security service. However, in the case of minors, it is mandatory to go to a SEF branch to confirm their identity and affiliation.
