Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned Washington against supplying Kyiv with long-range weapons, noting that the US “is about to become a party to the conflict” in Ukraine.

Speaking on state television, Ryabkov said that “Moscow has repeatedly warned Washington of the consequences that could arise if it continues to flood Ukraine with weapons” and warned that “the very narrow line that separates the United States from being on the side of the conflict should not create illusions of frenzied forces. “An anti-Russian statement that everything will remain as it is if you pass by.”

He cited his country’s military doctrine, which provides for “the use of nuclear weapons in the event of a threat to the existence of the Russian state,” and also warned “the United States against taking provocative steps, such as launching long-range and more destructive weapons.” And he added: “This is a path into the unknown and is fraught with terrible consequences, and the responsibility for it will fall entirely on Washington.”

Ryabkov emphasized that “Russia is capable of defending its interests,” adding that “the goals of the special military operation (in Ukraine) will be fully achieved.”
