The image of an Arab leader behind King Charles III… who is he?

Social media users have shared a picture of Britain’s King Charles III and his wife sitting behind them, which the media say shows the Abbasid Caliph Abu Ja’far al-Mansour at Buckingham Palace.

The new king appeared next to his wife Camilla, sitting on a sofa in front of a large painting, and accompanying comments read: “A painting by Abu Ja’far al-Mansour adorns Buckingham Palace. The builder of Baghdad was an Arab king over the Persians. Turks, Romans the English, the Indians, the Berbers and other peoples.”

The photo received thousands of posts and comments, especially given the social media controversy surrounding Britain’s colonial past following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

After examining the image, it was found that this painting is actually a depiction of Muhammad Ali, the founder of modern Egypt, during the “Mamluk Massacre” in 1811 by the French painter “Uras Verney” and exhibited at the Clarence Palace.

This artwork can be found on the official Royal Family Art Collections website.

The accompanying description stated that it was a silk and wool tapestry designed by Oras Verni depicting the “Mamluk Massacre” in which Muhammad Ali appears surrounded by three men, one of whom points toward the smoky city of Cairo. .

The site announced that Emperor Napoleon III gifted the artwork to Queen Victoria.
