Czech authorities have called for “the establishment of an international court specializing in war crimes” following the discovery of new mass graves in Ukraine.

The appeal came after about 450 graves were discovered outside the city of Izyum, which was under Russian occupation, where most of the exhumed bodies showed signs of torture.

In this context, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky stated on social media that “in the twenty-first century it is impossible to imagine such heinous attacks on civilians”, stressing that “we must not ignore them, we demand that all war criminals be punished “.

Investigators indicated that “some of the bodies found in cemeteries near the eastern Ukrainian city of Izyum belonged to people with their hands tied behind their backs, and the bodies of children were also found.”

The Czech Republic took in about 400,000 refugees from Ukraine and provided about $150 million worth of military support to the country, which was invaded by the Russian army on February 24.
