Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein indicated that “the fifth round of Saudi-Iranian talks has ended and we are preparing the conditions for the next round.”

In an interview with Al Jazeera, he explained, “We support the nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, and the tension is negatively affecting our internal situation,” revealing that “it is being discussed that the next meeting between Riyadh and Tehran will take place at a level other than ministers of foreign affairs.

Hussein stressed, “We are committed to developing our relationship with the United States, and our relationship with Iran is good,” emphasizing “the need to develop our relationship with Turkey on the basis of mutual understanding.”

He stated, “We are discussing with Ankara ways to get rid of the PKK’s armed activities,” stressing that “the issue of the PKK’s armed activities cannot be resolved with violence and weapons.”

Hussein stressed that “the US military presence in Iraq is in the framework of exercises and consultations.” In addition, he said that “negotiations are underway with political organizations and we are going to hold a meeting of parliament in the near future.”

He hoped that “we hope to reach an agreement with the Sadrist movement to enter the government”, explaining that “we are suffering in the formation of a new government, and there are conflicts between the Shia party blocs.”
