Ukraine’s Infrastructure Ministry said seven ships carrying agricultural products left Ukrainian ports on Sunday, bringing the total to 218 since a UN-brokered agreement to open safe passage through the Black Sea came into force in early August.

Ukraine, a major exporter of agricultural products, was unable to send its consignments across the Black Sea after the outbreak of the war on February 24, or even conclude a grain deal that would guarantee the safe passage of ships with the crop.

This increased the total volume of agricultural products transported along the corridor to 4.85 million tons, the ministry said in a social media post.

“September 25, seven ships with 146.2 thousand tons of agricultural products left through the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Bivdny to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe,” the report says.

Before the war, Ukraine exported up to six million tons of grain per month.
