The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, said that he tested positive for covid-19 and canceled the event that he had scheduled for this Sunday.
The leader of the Spanish socialist party and the country’s coalition government said in a Twitter post that he was canceling his presence at a socialist event scheduled for this Sunday to mark the start of the new political season after the summer holidays.
This morning I tested positive for #COVID-19. I can’t be with you today @salvadorilla and all the companions of @socialistes_cat in Gava. Glad #FestaDeLaRosa.
I will continue to work with extreme precautions.

Sanchez did not say if he was feeling unwell or if he would be canceling other appointments next week.
“I will continue to work, taking all precautions,” he said.
Sánchez participated last week in the United Nations General Assembly in New York and returned to Spain for an official act on Friday.
