During the past months, the name of Sofia Karkadem (22 years old), a Ukrainian refugee, became the first headline of foreign and international newspapers after the kidnapping of Englishman Tony Garnett (30 years old) from his wife.
To her surprise, Sophia kicked her out when Tony dumped her and called the police as she tried to pack her things, left heartbroken and penniless, telling her, “No more You are not welcome here.”
Despite this, in her first statement after breaking up with him, she noted that “Ukrainian women are strong…Vladimir Putin will not destroy us and Tony Garnett will not destroy me.”
She also added that she was paying for food and bills and cooking, cleaning and washing, “while he was sitting.”
He added: “I really loved him and thought we were going to spend the rest of our lives together and have children, but he changed his mind, revealing that ‘even his mother didn’t speak to him after what he did to his wife Lorna. “
He also emphasized that when he kicked her out, he knew that he had no money and no place to go, adding: “Now it will be a long and difficult journey for me, but I will rebuild my life and when I do this, I will Was. I’m glad because he’s no longer a part of it.”
Sofia reportedly fled the conflict in her country on foot to the Polish border, from where she traveled to Krakow and then to Hamburg, Germany, before reaching Berlin.
Two months later, after the government offered refugees a six-month stay with host families, he decided to move to Britain.
He then submitted his application for a UK sponsor at Opora Homes for Ukraine in April, so Tony stepped in to help after agreeing with his wife, Lorna.
Ten days after she arrived at the family home, she stole his heart and broke up the couple.
