Nearly 500 targets in northern Syria and Iraq have been hit by Turkish aircraft and artillery since Sunday, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Wednesday.
“471 attacks were carried out and 254 terrorists were neutralized [de domingo] until today”in the framework of the operation against the positions of the Kurdish fighters, the Turkish minister said.
Ankara launched a military operation on Sunday, with a series of airstrikes, followed by artillery fire, against positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and People’s Protection Unit (YPG) militias.
Ankara accuses the two Kurdish movements of responsibility for the attack in Istanbul on November 13, which left six dead and 81 injured.

Both Kurdish movements deny any involvement in the Istanbul attack.
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 40 people were killed in the Turkish attacks.
On Tuesday night, Turkish artillery shelling focused on the city of Kobane, a YPG stronghold that seized the area formerly held by the Islamic State group.
