The Food Bank Against Hunger is carrying out a new campaign to collect food in supermarkets this Saturday and Sunday, underlining its “determinant importance”, at a time of “growing difficulties” caused by inflation and the rise in interest rates .

The campaign, which is carried out in person in supermarkets throughout the country, has the slogan ‘Hope’, to underline the ability of individual contribution “to improve the lives of others, with a simple gesture of sharing, especially in a context of economic crisis”. and that it will foreseeably worsen in the coming months”, affirms the Food Bank in a statement released today.

“Therefore, it is necessary to reinforce solidarity and an additional collective effort of all Portuguese people so that it is possible for the Food Banks against Hunger to respond to the growing requests for help from the most needy Portuguese families”, adds the Bank of Alimentos, which claims to be helping more than 400,000 people every day at this time.

“Tens of thousands of volunteers will be, as usual, present in supermarkets from north to south of the country to collect food generously and in solidarity donated by the Portuguese, in what constitutes an unavoidable help for more than 400 thousand people, not only for that they may have a happier Christmas, but above all that they may eat enough and decently every day,” the statement said.

The Food Bank also mentions that, “in addition to the face-to-face campaign on the 26th and 27th, the collection will continue until December 4 through the possible purchase of food vouchers available in supermarkets or contributions made on the web www. alimentestaideia .pt”.
