The United States, Russia and China are the only three national Olympic committees invited to the Olympic Summit scheduled for Friday, which will discuss the present and future of the Olympic Movement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Monday.
The Summit, organized by videoconference, will be chaired by the President of the IOC, Thomas Bach, and on the agenda will be the Beijing Winter OlympicsHe played this year, and the next ones in the summer, in Paris2024.
In the press release, the IOC intends to offer an update on the candidatures for the 2030 Winter Games, the optimization of the Games themselves, the fight against doping, electronic games (eSports) or classification models.
In the current scenario, Russian athletes are excluded from the qualification processes for Paris 2024given the alignment of the federations with the IOC recommendations, while the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues.
A context that is different for the Russian Olympic Committee or for the Russian members of the IOC, who were not excluded, nor did they suffer any sanction.
