Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that Russia must answer for accusations of terrorism and aggression against Ukrainians due to mines placed in the territories they occupied.
In his usual daily address to the Ukrainians, the President of Ukraine recalled that there are more than 170,000 square kilometers of territory considered dangerous, due to the mines and explosive devices left by the Russians in the territories through which they passed.
For Zelensky, the Russian regime of Vladimir Putin should be accused of terrorism for the massive use of land mines, pointing out that four policemen -now awarded posthumously- died from the explosion of mines in Kherson.
The Ukrainian president also thanked the international help that Ukraine has received in the demining process from Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and Slovakia.
Russia launched a military offensive launched in Ukraine on February 24, causing the flight of more than 13 million people -more than six million internally displaced persons and more than 7.8 million to European countries-, according to the most recent data from the ONU.
The Russian invasion was condemned by the broader international community, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic sanctions on Russia.
The UN presented as confirmed since the beginning of the war 6,490 dead civilians and 9,972 wounded, stressing that these figures are far below the real ones.
