Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi today denied reports that three people were arrested in Iran in connection with the poisoning of school students on Wednesday.
“We have not received reports of the presence of a specific toxic substance that has caused poisoning among students,” Wahidi said.
“The hypothesis of whether the case was an adventure or a personal operation is being explored. Intelligence agencies are working on it. The foreign media does not broadcast accurate news to manipulate the psychology of students’ families.”
The news that people accused of poisoning students have been arrested is baseless,” he said.
Earlier today, the Fars news agency, citing a well-informed source, said that the police arrested three people in connection with the mass poisoning of students in several schools in Iran.
In recent weeks, Iranian authorities have announced that a large number of school students have been poisoned in several Iranian cities.
The series of student poisonings began in the city of Qom, then traveled as far as Tehran in the western city of Borujerd, where it was announced that female students had been poisoned at a school in Tehran.
While all students with cases of mild poisoning have been discharged from medical centers after their treatment, no critical cases have been seen in recent weeks.
The authorities presented the hypothesis that the cases were deliberate. The investigation into the circumstances of these incidents is still ongoing.
